Walking barefoot on the earth is a Chinese healing therapy which I was suggested a while ago and which I immediately feel good after. It is based on the idea that we are disconnected from the earth by modern footwear and concrete. Mankind used to walk barefoot on the ground at all times as well as sleep on it. There idea is that our disconnection from the earth is what is making us all ill.
I try to walk on the grass in my garden every morning (weather permitting, but not in winter) for five to ten minutes. I aim to do about twenty but life always gets in the way. Try it, I have found it to be a really enjoyable experience and a great start to my day. I often incorporate it into my daily yoga practice; outside on the grass barefoot am sure it is doing me some good.
